OUR CHURCH

What we believe

The Bible is….

  • the history of God’s relationship with people, written by human beings working under God’s direction. It is the ultimate truth for all people. It tells us how to conduct our lives as God’s creation and as members of His family. Psalm 19:7-11; John 17:17;

  • the Inspired Word of God and the final authority in the life and teaching of His church. 2 Peter 1:20-21, 2 Timothy 3: 15-16

  • the Inspired statement of faith for Christ's church and anything said or written should be measured by the Word of God.  1Peter 4:11

  • to be understood by everyone and we endeavor to handle the contents of the Bible correctly and search the scriptures carefully to understand and apply its truths. Acts 17:11

God is…

  • the only God. God loves us more than we can imagine and passionately desires a relationship with us. He sent His son Jesus to make us holy and free us from the power of sin. Matthew 3:13-17; John 3:16; Ephesians 4:6

  • the creator all things and the sovereign ruler of the universe. Genesis 1:1, 26-27; Psalm 24:1

  • the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit eternally existing as one and as three. Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14

Jesus is…

  • God, coming to earth in human form as Jesus Christ. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, was crucified for the sins of us all, was buried, rose from the dead, and ascended to heaven. He is the only one who can restore our broken relationship with God the Father. 1 Corinthians 15:3-8; Galatians 4:3-5; Hebrews 1:1-3

  • the one and only unique son of God, who came to earth in human flesh to save us from our sins.    Matthew 1:21,23; Luke 19:10; Philippians 2:5-7

  • An example for all to follow in serving God, the essence of which is to love others. John 12:26, 13:13-16, 34-35

  • the perfect sacrifice to purify from sin to all who would accept his gift in faith and that his death on a cross was necessary. Romans 5:6-9, Hebrews 4: 14-16

  • ready to receive His followers into their eternal home when he fulfills his promise to return from heaven. John 14:1-3, Acts 1:9-11

The Holy Spirit is…

  • God and dwells inside all who have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit ensured that God’s message was accurately preserved in the Bible. He is also our daily helper and guide. He teaches, comforts, and empowers His followers with a variety of abilities. He promotes unity, Christ-like character and love. John 14:16-17,26; Romans 5:5; Galatians 4:6; Ephesians 1:13-14

  • living in every Christian, strengthening them in their inner person, leading them in their walk with Christ. Acts 2:38-39; Romans 8:9-11; Ephesians 3: 14-19

  • evidenced by the fruit seen in an increasingly Christ-like life. Galatians 5:22-25

Mankind is…

  • male and female, created by God, in His spiritual likeness, to live in an eternal relationship with Him. God also gave us free will – the ability to choose to have this relationship with Him or not. Through sin, everyone breaks their intended relationship with God. We experience the destructive consequences of that broken relationship in this life and beyond. God offers a wonderful alternative – salvation. Genesis 1:26-27; Psalm 119:73; 139:13-16; John 3:16; Ephesians 1:4-5

God’s Family is…

  • another term for God’s family is the church which is the community of everyone who has been saved by Christ. They can be recognized by their commitment to following Christ, their love for God’s family, and their service to their community and the world. God’s family shares the good news of Jesus with others. John 13:34-35; 17:20-23; Acts 2:42-47; 1 Corinthians 12:12-27; Ephesians 2:19-22

  • people who become believers and respond to that love and sacrifice by being born again and are adopted by God himself, who adds them to the church. John 3:3-5; Acts 2:42-47; Ephesians 1:3-8

  • God's presence among His people in the world to represent who He is and what He stands for. 1 Peter 2:9-17

Salvation is…

  •  a gift of God’s love. There is nothing we can do to deserve or earn our relationship with God. Faith involves confessing to others that Jesus is Lord and believing that God raised Him from the dead. Faith involves the changing of our heart and life to please God (repentance). Faith involves being immersed in water (baptism) to personally share in Christ’s saving actions removing our sin, giving us the gift of the Holy Spirit and making us a part of God’s family. John 1 16:17; Romans 3:21-28; 10:9-10; Philippians 2:9-11;

  • available to all people, all have sinned and are separated from God because of sin. Isaiah 59:1-2; Romans 3:23

  • being forgiven of sin and receiving eternal life to all who accept and submit to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.  Luke 24:47; John 8:24; Acts 2:38; Romans 6:22-23

  • extended by God to believers as an act of His grace and mercy, paid for by the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. Romans 5: 6-10; Ephesians 2:8-10, Hebrews 9:26-28; 1 Peter 1:18-19)

Worship is…

  • a time to praise and worship God. Luke 4:8; John 4:24;

  •  each Sunday. we gather to remember Christ’s death and resurrection by participating in the Lord’s Supper. Acts 20:7; Acts 2:42; Luke 22:19

  • an important time for family members to encourage each other. 2 Timothy 4:2; 1 Thessalonians 5:2; 2 Corinthians 13:11

  • our daily walk with Him as we respond to what God has done for us through Jesus. Romans 12:1

  • caring for others and being the presence of Jesus in the world. John 3:21; Acts 14:5

  • Mark 7:6-7; John 4:23-24;; Hebrews 10:5-7; 13:15-16; James 1:27; 1 Peter 2:5

About us

The Lloydminster church of Christ is a group of followers of Jesus the Christ. We do our best to glorify God in all we do locally and as part of the larger community of believers. We desire that each person who enters our community experience the love of Jesus.

Here are the values that empower and guide our ministry to our city:

Community: We desire to share and experience the grace and love of God through Christ-centered community. (Acts 2:42-47)

Prayer: We rely on the Holy Spirit through prayer, both individually and as a congregation to support us as we plan ministry’s and activities within this church and community. (Matthew 6:9-13)

Biblical teaching: We strive to humbly and graciously teach God’s authoritative Word with integrity so that seekers find Jesus and we ourselves grow and mature in Him. (2 Timothy 3:16)

Gifts-based ministry: We seek to equip and empower those in our spiritual family to discover and use their divinely-given gifts to the glory of God. (Ephesians 4:11-13)

Discipling: We hold the conviction that God uses intentional, grace-filled, Christ-centered relationships to help us joyfully thrive and grow in Him. (Hebrews 10:24)

Mission: We actively embrace the Great Commission: Jesus’ charge to make disciples of all nations, baptize them in the name of the Father, Son, and Spirit, and teach them to obey all his commands. (Matthew 28:16-20)

Our history

The Lloydminster Church of Christ is an extension of a movement that started 2000 years ago, in Jerusalem, with those who were disciples and those who became followers of Christ.

Our congregation stands in the tradition of the Stone-Campbell Movement, an attempt begun in the early 19th century in Europe and North America to seek the spirit of New Testament Christianity. From its beginning, this movement practiced local autonomy for its churches.

We are congregational and independent, with no national or provincial denominational organization. There may be things that we practice which other congregations within this fellowship do not, and things which other congregations may practice that we do not.

This local congregation was established in the 1960’s with a group that built the building we worship in. Through the years there has been bible camps, tent meetings, VBS and other activities in the community.

We are a group of loving people sharing together on a journey of faith. Together, we are seeking to know God and grow in our relationship with Him. We are journeying together through the trials of life, with no less than our very most, to eternity!
